Privacy Policy.

How GMO Media collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you visit the Making of Incredible Brands website — written to be readable, and compliant with India's data-protection regime.

This Privacy Policy explains how GMO Media Pvt. Ltd. ("GMO Media", "we", "us", "our") — the operator of makingofincrediblebrands.com — collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your personal information. It has been drafted to comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the "DPDP Act"), the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 ("SPDI Rules").

1. Introduction

Your privacy matters to us. This Policy sets out, in plain terms, what data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over your own information.

By accessing or using this website, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your information in accordance with this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.

2. Scope of this Policy

This Policy applies to personal data collected through this website and any related services, including the "Feature Your Brand" and "Pitch Your Brand" submission forms. It does not apply to the JioHotstar platform, YouTube, or any other third-party service — those services are governed by their own privacy policies.

3. Personal Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

3.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Brand pitch submissions: brand name, your name, role/designation, work email, category/industry, and the pitch details you enter in the "Why your story" field.
  • General enquiries: when you write to us at connect@gmomedia.in or through WhatsApp/phone, we receive the contact information and message you send.

3.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device and log data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, session duration, and timestamps.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: as described in Section 7 below.

3.3 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data or information (as defined under the SPDI Rules) — such as financial account details, biometric data, health information, sexual orientation, or political affiliation — through this website. Please do not submit such information to us.

4. How We Use Your Personal Data

We use the personal data we collect for the following purposes:

Purpose Data Used

5. Legal Basis and Consent

Under the DPDP Act, we process your personal data on one or more of the following bases:

  • Consent — freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous, expressed by an affirmative action (for example, submitting a pitch form).
  • Legitimate Uses — where processing is necessary for a specific purpose you have voluntarily provided data for, or for compliance with law.

You may withdraw your consent at any time by writing to privacy@gmomedia.in. Withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of processing already carried out.

6. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. We may share it in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers — trusted third parties who process data on our behalf (hosting, email, analytics, CRM), bound by written agreements and confidentiality obligations.
  • Broadcast & distribution partners — where a brand is shortlisted for the series, relevant information may be shared with JioHotstar and other production partners for the limited purpose of episode planning and rights clearance.
  • Legal & regulatory disclosures — where required by law, court order, or a lawful request from a governmental authority in India.
  • Corporate transactions — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to standard confidentiality safeguards.

7. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the website, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use the site.

Type Purpose
Strictly Necessary Required for the site to function — session, security, and load balancing.
Preferences Remember your language, region, and last-viewed content.
Analytics Aggregated, anonymised information about visits and page performance.

Most browsers allow you to control cookies via their settings. Disabling non-essential cookies will not prevent you from using the site, but some features may not work as intended.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, or as required under applicable law:

  • Pitch submissions: retained for up to twenty-four (24) months from the last interaction, to evaluate the brand for the current and next season.
  • General enquiries: retained for up to twelve (12) months from the last correspondence.
  • Server logs and analytics: retained for up to twelve (12) months.
  • Legal or regulatory obligations: retained for the period required under applicable Indian law.

After the applicable retention period, data is securely deleted or irreversibly anonymised.

9. Security

We implement reasonable technical, organisational, and physical safeguards to protect personal data against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction — including TLS/SSL encryption in transit, access controls, and periodic reviews. These measures are aligned with the "reasonable security practices and procedures" under the SPDI Rules.

No system, however, is entirely secure. In the unlikely event of a personal data breach that is likely to cause significant harm, we will notify the Data Protection Board of India and affected users in accordance with the DPDP Act.

10. International Data Transfers

Personal data is primarily stored on servers located in India. Where processing involves service providers outside India (for example, cloud hosting or email delivery), we ensure that such transfers comply with the DPDP Act and are subject to appropriate contractual safeguards. Transfers are restricted to jurisdictions permitted under applicable Indian law.

11. Your Rights as a Data Principal

Subject to the DPDP Act and other applicable laws, you have the following rights over your personal data:

  • Right to access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it has been processed.
  • Right to correction and erasure — to have inaccurate or misleading data corrected, updated, or, where applicable, erased.
  • Right of grievance redressal — to complain to our Grievance Officer (see Section 15).
  • Right to nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity.
  • Right to withdraw consent at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, write to privacy@gmomedia.in with sufficient detail to identify you and the request. We will respond within the timelines prescribed under applicable law.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors without verifiable consent of a parent or legal guardian, in accordance with Section 9 of the DPDP Act. If you believe a minor has provided us data, please contact us at privacy@gmomedia.in and we will take steps to delete it.

13. Third-Party Services

This website may include content or links from third-party platforms, including but not limited to JioHotstar, YouTube, IMDb, LinkedIn, Instagram, and WhatsApp. When you interact with such content, the respective third party may collect information about you as governed by its own privacy policy. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any third-party service.
